What does the commission include?

  • Timeline

The delivery time varies based on the scope and complexity of the illustrations. Smaller projects are usually completed within a few days to two weeks, while larger or more intricate projects may take 3–6 weeks. We will agree on a timeline in advance to suit the specific needs of your project.

  • Revisions

Each illustration project includes 1–4 rounds of revisions (depending on the scope of the project), giving you the opportunity to provide feedback and request changes. You can, for example, ask to adjust colors, soften shapes to create a friendlier feel, or add extra elements to the image. The number of revision rounds will be agreed upon at the start of the project.

  • File Formats

The final illustrations are typically delivered in the following file formats: PNG, JPEG, PDF, TIFF, EPS, or SVG. Please let me know at the time of commission which file formats you prefer for the final illustration. Any specific file format requests will be considered at the beginning of the project.

  • Usage Rights

The rights to the completed work depend on the project. As a general rule, you will receive a limited usage license for the illustrations that covers the agreed-upon purposes, such as marketing or branding materials, printed products, or websites. If you require broader usage rights, such as the ability to modify the illustrations or use them in third-party services, we can negotiate those terms separately.

design process

Once the brief is complete, we move on to the sketching and design phase. At this stage, I will develop several concept proposals based on your original ideas and goals. Sketches typically consist of multiple line sketches that help us understand the compositions, image elements, and color palette —the aim is for the client to gain an understanding of the final result and the core idea. The goal is to find the best possible direction for your project, and your feedback is crucial during this phase.

brief

The illustration process begins with preliminary discussion, where we gather all the necessary information and understand the project’s goals. At this stage, I will discuss your brand’s needs, target audience, desired visual elements, storylines, timelines, and budget with you.

Collaboration and open communication are at the core of the work to ensure we can create a clear and comprehensive plan together. We will also adhere to the schedule.

SKETCHING

Once you have approved the design, we move on to the production phase. At this stage, we refine and polish the selected concepts into final illustration. I will use the necessary software and tools, as well as any requested by the client, to produce high-quality and durable graphic elements, such as printed materials or digital content.

This phase also includes taking into account any technical details as needed. Client feedback is also considered at this stage.

DESIGN

In the final phase, I will deliver the completed materials to you in the agreed format. I will ensure that you receive all the necessary files and further instructions for use. After this, I would appreciate your feedback so I can assess whether the project has met your expectations. If needed, we can make final adjustments or plan next steps.

DELIVERY AND FOLLOW-UP

  • The delivery time for illustration work depends on the scope, diversity, and complexity of the project. Smaller illustrations are usually completed within a few days to two weeks, while larger or more detailed projects may take 3–6 weeks. If the client has a clear vision of the final result before the project begins, this can expedite the process, allowing for quicker turnaround on illustrations needed for editorial work or brand guidelines. The timeline is always confirmed before the start of the project, ensuring you can allocate the necessary time and that we successfully complete the project.

  • The price of illustration work is determined by the scope of the project, the level of detail, and the usage rights involved. Smaller illustrations, such as individual images for websites, start at 200€ + VAT of 25.5%. Larger projects, such as comprehensive illustration series, brand illustrations, or packaging designs, are priced on a project basis. A price estimate is always provided before work begins, and it includes an agreed number of revision rounds. Any additional services, such as broader usage rights, will be negotiated separately.

  • Before starting the work, I require a clear description of your project, including its intended uses, objectives, and desired style. It is also important to understand the purpose (e.g., websites, print materials, brand identity) as well as any specific color and size requirements. Reference materials can include text content related to the commission or any previous visual materials from your company.
